The exploration of gender is one of the most profound and thought-provoking themes in art. Men & women, those who’ve been ascribed those labels and identify as either or anywhere in between, are redefining and expanding the boundaries of what gender is and what it could be. However archaic, these words do have meaning, and expressing what we feel is femininity or masculinity is entirely up to the individual. Joao Porto explores, expands, and exposes the gender binary as an exercise in individuality in photo series below.
