feature: nairobi’s shifteye photography illuminates the traditional power of queendom in beautiful ongoing project ‘royals’

August 10, 2016

In times such as these- it is increasingly necessary ton honor where you came from, and from who. The ancient practice of worshipping the women has fallen by the wayside, yet for Nairobi-based Photography company Shifteye, the essence of homage comes to life in their new and ongoing collaborative project: ‘Royals’. A series to watch, and from which to take note, ‘Royals’ highlights the beauty and grace of our women, all while placing them in a position of unwavering power. Photographed as the sole focal point, and decorated with gorgeous regalia- the model is lit from behind, and transported into an honoring status of a Queen. Shifteye takes the win with this respectful reminder of the true sovereignty that women possess and deserve. Check out ‘Royals’ below.
