new music: unïx drops refreshingly original, upbeat mix of r&b, soul, and theatre with ‘love chile’ ep
Few things put a smile on my face more quickly than unexpected originality, which exactly what I found with Unïx’s ‘Love Chile’ EP. ‘Love Chile’ is the second EP released by the D.C./Richmond/NY-based soul singer and unlike the first (’Stupid Little Shit’), ‘Love Chile’ is a rather upbeat, spunky mix of R&B, soul, musical theatricality, and ambience that forms Unïx’s very unique soundscape. “This one is very close to my heart, as I wrote most of these songs as a means to get out of a deep depression. Most of these songs are fun and upbeat — I wanted to write about the love I deserved, not the love I had. So, out came “Love Chile,” Unïx says.
