afropunk premiere: rock collective people’s blues of richmond share vicious new single ‘i understand’
Fast, loud, and unrelenting. People’s Blues Of Richmond’s brand new single ‘I Understand’ is a raw, but technically precise, rock-n-roll track that comes out swinging and even takes a pit stop or two for a few unexpected breaks. People’s Blues frontman Tim Beavers explains that the intensity of the track was inspired by his real-life struggles while on the road touring. “The lyrics came to me one morning when I woke up in the van on tour feeling like I was at the end of my rope mentally and physically. The one thing in my life that had given me a feeling of purpose was failing me…I was in tears trying to play it to the rest of the band because I felt so hopeless and so distant from our shared dream,” he tells AFROPUNK. ‘I Understand’’s triumphant fire? All about resilience, dusting yourself off and moving forward in a positive direction. “All the fun and optimism felt like it came right back into me as I felt the song turning from a sad chord progression to a driving rock n roll tune. It quickly became a reminder to me that the valleys just make the mountains seem taller just like the lows that define our negative extremes serve as wonderful juxtapositions to all the highs of our fast lifestyle.”
‘I Understand’ will appear on People’s Blues of Richmond’s forthcoming album ‘QUIT OR DIE’ out June 10th. Pre-order it right over here.
