new music: west african-inspired psychedelic heavy metal band vodun release electrifying album “possession”

The heaviness is palpable on psychedelic heavy metal band VODUN’s new album “Possession”. If you’re unfamiliar, the London-based rockers make heavy metal steeped in West African Vodun—one of the oldest religions in the history of civilization. Instrumentally and lyrically Vodun borrow traditional sounds and imagery from the region and pair them with a heaping serving of psychedelia. The album is an extremely well-crafted and complex welding of genres where the electrifying voice of lead vocalist Chantal Brown shepherding you through the thunderous and, at times, chaotic, soundscape.
