feature: see gabonese photographer yannis davy guibinga’s celebration of the many shades of blackness in his series ‘spectrum’
Yannis Davy Guibinga is a 20-year-old photographer from Gabon, now based in Toronto. His series ‘Spectrum’ is a simplistic, yet detail-oriented portrait of the many ‘faces’ and shades of blackness. Guibinga plays off the richness of both dark blue and true orange backgrounds to highlight the varied and unquestionable beauty of melanin-rich rich babes. “This series is called ‘Spectrum’ and is about celebrating your heritage and being in touch with your blackness no matter the shade of black you are,” Guibinga tells AFROPUNK.
