photo essay: brazilian photographer matheus thierry spotlights inclusive, judgement-free nightlife event ‘batekoo’
Check out photographer Matheus Thierry‘s latest photo essay of a ‘BATEKOO’ event in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. ‘BATEKOO’ is a dance-centric production that has social justice roots. Their events promote a judgement-free, inclusive space where young people of color can party and express their identities and orientations in a safe space. “The proposal is to be a democratic party, free from prejudice, and to unite all the black rhythms everybody have so much fun and break up the ground until your legs say ENOUGH!” the group writes on Facebook.
