video premiere: folksy duo artpeace’s florescent visual for “hi:)”

September 10, 2015

Funky duo, Artpeace release their trippy visuals for new video, a remix to their single “Hi:)”, an uber mellow, euphoric track.  It’s not the typical; up tempo, high we tend to do over here at AFROPUNK, Grammy nominated songwriter Taura Stinson (who has written for artists such as Raphael Saadiq, Andre 3000, Kanye West, Destiny’s Child and Solange Knowles) and designer Chrissy DePauw deliver something rather special, and everybody needs some chill time. “Hi:)” is the ultimate chill out track. We’re pleased to premiere the video right here on AFROPUNK.com. Check it our below.

“Hi:)” is clearly a play on words or a multiple entendre, if you will. We speak about the head in the clouds kind of “High”, an inebriated kind of “High” and finally “Hi”, as in hello. When he comes back in the middle of song and she gets to pour her heart out to him and they work it out, because we all know that’s the best “High” of all.  We conveyed all of those feelings the best way possible in the video, with the UV light model being the center of the story and the actor and actress portraying the build up, break down and the ominous middle ground of a relationship superbly”

The video is a bold, illuminating visual experience, directed by Adam Tilman-Young who previously directed Empire star V.Bozeman’s “Race Jones video..

 .

“Adam Tillman Young directed “Race Jones” by V.Bozeman and after seeing that, we knew that working with him was a MUST! We approached him with trepidation like “what if he says no?” Well, he didn’t say no. Neither did the Magic Gate, that provided an awesome location, nor our beautiful models, make-up artists, crew or Shawn Barton, a legendary wardrobe stylist who worked with artists like Cee Lo Green, Andre 3000, Erykah Badu and J-Lo to name a few. Everything came together and we actually ended up wrapping the shoot earlier than expected.”

And on the usage of the ultra violet light, the ladies had this to say:

“Ultra violet light is essentially a form of radiation that isn’t visible to the human eye. It exposes the things that we don’t see in the natural…”
