August 14, 2015

Check out the powerful new release from Janelle Monáe’s Wondaland outfit – ‘Hell You Talmbout’. Featuring Monáe, Deep Cotton, St. Beauty, Jidenna, Roman GianArthur, and George 2.0, the pulsating protest song pays tribute to all the victims of racially motivated attacks (particularly police brutality) – shouting the names of the victims and demanding that we (the listener) do the same. In a press release for the track, the group (who have now released their long awaited ‘Eephus’ EP) stated: “The song is a vessel. It carries the unbearable anguish of millions. We recorded it to channel the pain, fear, and trauma. We recorded it to challenge the indifference, disregard, and negligence of all who remain quiet about the issue. Silence is our enemy. Sound is our weapon. They say a question lives forever until it gets the answer it deserves… Won’t you say their names?” Listen below.
