afropunk premiere: miss baby sol sings about state welfare in new single ‘on the dole’

June 9, 2015

Today we’re premiering the new single from Miss Baby Sol, ‘On The Dole’. The single, produced by the British soulstress’ long time friend and collaborator Nutty P, is a song about state welfare (and the people unfairly stereotyped for seeking it) – and features on her upcoming album ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. The singer tells us: “People on the dole, or welfare, are often vilified. Free loaders, seen as people taking advantage of the system. Having been on the dole myself I feel that this is unfair. Sometimes you are more than willing but get stuck in the trap of a system that can fail as many as it helps. So l wrote this song inspired by that and the people around me that have been in, or are in, that position.” Check out the single below and catch Miss Baby Sol in London 30th September 2015 at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen for her headline ‘On The Dole Show’.
