afropunk premiere: check out the powerful visuals to greg grease’s “work song” #soundcheck

May 18, 2015

“American dream, we sell it cheap” Greg Grease raps in the latest video from his killer “Born to Lurk, Forced to Work” record. “Work Song” goes through the struggles of work, the work needed to pay the bills, the work needed to get where you want, the work to have a family and a life. The compromises you make to make it all work. The work. The video showcases vintage clips of black men and women working, from high society people in their finery down to chain gangs. It’s simple, powerful, and beautiful. Grease says, “Work Song is that motivation to get the coin shamelessly however that may be. Soundtrack to the work day.”
