off duty st. louis policeman kills 18-year-old

October 9, 2014

As protests continue in Ferguson following the shooting of Mike Brown in August, tensions have now been renewed in the small city of Missouri after an off duty St. Louis policeman killed an 18-year-old yesterday. Watch St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson’s media briefing. The police department say that the 18-year old, Vonderrick Myers, opened fire after being ordered to stop for a pedestrian check; whilst other accounts claim that he had nothing but a sandwich in his hand. A cousin of the deceased told the St Louis Post-Dispatch, “He had a sandwich in his hand, and they thought it was a gun. It’s like Michael Brown all over again.”

Police have stated that the officer was not hurt and that no gun was recovered from the scene.
