WTF. In NYC the campaign to slow down teen pregnancy has taken the “what’s wrong with you for having a baby” messaging in a series of subway and bus ads. Shame ads are nothing new, like campaigns on childhood obesity, but the issue has always been WHO are you trying to shame and why now? The campaign is gaining a controversy as the ads show crying babies, most of them being babies of color, with statements like “honestly mom, chances are he WON’T stay with you. What happens to me”. No one likes teen pregnancy, but come on son.
