Tyler, The Creator has come a long way from eating roaches in his infamous “Yonkers” video. Last night at the stroke of midnight, the musician gave us a yuletide treat in the form of a Christmas album inspired by the film The Grinch based off of the holiday classic.

The most surprising part of the album is the mature tone it has that only solidified Tyler, The Creator’s growth as an artist. The music is lush and modern, but still warm and jolly like one would anticipate. Tyler’s festive and fun approach is only just another step towards the public expanding what they think they know about the provocative artist and him not being seen as a shock artist, but simply an artist.

Tyler, The Creator now joins PJ Morton and John Legend with artists that took a shot at creating Christmas music this year. Who would you like to hear trying their luck at a holiday album next?
