Tyler, the Creator just signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures TV to work on scripted and unscripted series. The “Flower Boy” rapper is working with long-time collaborator Lionel Boyce to create content for television and digital properties.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Television president Jeff Frost said, “Tyler’s unconventional ingenuity is unparalleled, and we are excited about the prospect of what we can create together.”

This isn’t the first time Tyler’s dipped into the small screen. He and Boyce collaborated under their Bald Face production company and worked with Adult Swim back in 2012 and again in 2017. The pair created shows like The Jellies, an animated sitcom following a family of jellyfish and their human son, and the unscripted sketch-comedy Loiter Squad.

Tyler has acted as a director, actor, writer, producer and, adding that to his ingenuity and uncanny sense of humor, the shows are going to be dope. Tyler will be joining his colleagues and friends in the current Black TV renaissance we find ourselves in right now.

While we don’t expect a show like Insecure, Atlanta, or Dear White People, we can totally see some The Eric Andre Show vibes from him. And, at the very least, we know the music is going to be on point.
