Born on the streets of São Luis-Maranhão in Brazil, the Cazumbá Collective is a space for decolonization of the forced assimilation forced onto many of the communities of color in Brazil. Through their brand, the Cazumbá creatives publish black, LGBTQ+, low-income people, and others who are socially disenfranchised with the goal of defying limiting stereotypes within the fashion industry. Named after a character from Brazilian folklore, Cazumbá’s newest series is a celebration of movement and African heritage.
