Despite the, eh, mixed fan reactions of the 2009 Watchmen movie, HBO is gearing up for a series adaptation of the beloved graphic novel. And it looks like The Leftovers Regina King has already been tapped to lead the series’ casts. Teaming up with Leftovers co-creator Damon Lindelof for the second time, the two will be joined by actors Louis Gossett Jr., Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Adelaide Clemens and Andrew Howard. No word yet on who Hall will play, although rumors suggest that she’ll play Angela Abar, I’m REALLY hoping for a race-bent Laurie Jupiter aka Silk Spectre II. Per THR, Lindelof’s version will be “set in an alternate history where ‘superheroes’ are treated as outlaws. Watchmen embrace the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break ground of its own.”

On Tuesday, May 22, Lindelof posted a letter to fans about the adaptation stressing that “Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising yet familiar set of eyes…and it is here we will be taking our greatest risks.”

Sounds incredible already.

Day 140.
