rapper akala is back on tour with a live-set based on comic book ep ‘visions’
Rapper Akala is back and better than ever with the announcement of his April tour, and a live-set to thrill the masses.
With this tour, the illustrious Hip-Hop storyteller will bring his comic book EP ‘Visions’ to life; taking the semi-autobiographical account of the “higher states of consciousness, charting the evolution of the art of rapping from West Africa’s Griot traditions, through Jazz, Blues and Reggae up to the modern day”, and energizing it even more for the stage.
For years Akala has succeeded in exposing and rewriting narratives of color- tackling the most vulnerable subjects, airing them out with potent lyricism and rhythm- and with ‘Visions’,continuity is key. The UK-wide tour has it’s next wave in London April 27th at Shepherds Bush Empire, and for those of you who like to be fed by your music this offering is one to experience.
Make sure to keep track of Akala and all he has in the works, and check out some of ‘Visions’ live set below!
