Saxophonist and composer Kamasi Washington is back, this time with a not one project, but a double, his new album ‘Heaven And Earth’. The follow up to his 2015 ‘The Epic’, the LP features more than two and half hours of music featuring his band The Next Step, which AFROPUNK veteran Thundercat is in, as well as members of The West Coast Get Down. And the album’s first two singles are promising as hell. “The Space Travelers Lullaby” and “Fists of Fury”—the latter being a new arrangement of the theme song for the kung-fu classic of the same name—and boy are they epic. A well-paired set of singles, that reach hair-raising, smile-inducing crescendos, one exploding while the other blooms. ‘Heaven And Earth’ comes out June 22 and it can’t come quick enough.
