With $165, a Canon EOS 70D, and a few Adobe apps, three students from the University of Southern California paid homage to the seminal work of costume designer Ruth E. Carter on “Black Panther”. Shot by photographer Joy Ofodu, “OFODU OKON OKOYE” –A BLACK PANTHER TRIBUTE, the series was particularly inspired by Danai Gurira’s portrayal of Okoye. A modern-day reinterpretation of the fierce Dora Milaje warriors, Joy and her team, MUA Eva Isakovic and model/actress Joy “Sunday” Okon

“As two Nigerian-American women, we often feel the burden to be protectors of our identities,” Joy Ofodu says. “We are proud to pay homage to Black Panther, the first blockbuster superhero film to shamelessly validate those identities.”
