Papa Cherry is the gritty supernatural romance story that follows a struggling Black guitarist who sells his soul to the devil to become a Rock god. Created by Saxton Moore, an Emmy-nominated animation director, and artist and produced by a black team at his Pixel Pirate Studio, Papa Cherry aims to capitulate audiences with intricate, colorful visual storytelling about compelling narratives relevant to heritage, culture, and history. Relentless in his band’s pursuit of success, rocker Papa and the band tour the planet dominated one venue at a time, turning skeptics into “true believers” all while evading less than enthusiastic rival bands, Confederate zombies, and Civil War re-enactors.

The graphic novel series’ accompanying animation artwork features fantastic tunes by AFROPUNK alums Unlocking The Truth for as well! To learn more about Papa Cherry and getting your hands on a copy, check out Pixel Pirate Studio’s current Kickstarter, here.
