Inspired by his frustration over the lack of representation and diversity in film and TV, screenwriter Jay Longino sprung began the journey to ‘Son of Shaolin’. A 112-page graphic novel and kung-fu epic set in the streets of Harlem. Kryie is an aspiring street artist who learns that he is actually the last living descendent secret sect of ancient Shaolin Elders. Uncertain and confused by what this means, but with the help of a mysterious father figure, Master Fong, Kyrie trains in the ways of martial arts in order to fight Red Fist–the man killing off the Shaolin bloodline.

Sound interesting, right? Good, because Sony/Columbia Pictures have optioned the film rights to ‘Son of Shaolin’ preemptively. A script that Longino completed the first draft for, last year.
