Baltimore-based visual artist Kyle Yearwood is a self-described “Architect of Realities.” In taking in his beautiful works, this title can be interpreted in two ways: Not only does he visualize new realities for Black folks where they can be empowered and/or exalted, but he also highlights the reality that is already here, the magic of a people who have persisted despite all odds.

Creating both short moving visuals and still photographs, Yearwood brings new life to the Black imagination, bestowing powers and mysticism to his subjects. To hammer the messages him, his images are sometimes accompanied by powerful quotes from others or a short note about his vision for the piece.
