photo project encourages self-appreciation and black history exploration

The aptly named BLACK EXCELLENCE is an L.A.-based collective of Black creatives that encourages others to unpack the mythology, truth, and lost heritage of Black history and the diaspora. “Our aim is to acknowledge the beauty and strength of the African descendants throughout Modern History affected by the African diaspora due to apathetic Imperial greed while highlighting Africa’s vibrancy and fullness of life.”

Through the work, BLACK EXCELLENCE aims to uplift members of the diaspora by celebrating our worth and to intrigue interest in exploring our precious hidden histories. Check out the collectives first two projects, in full, here, and see our favorite shots, below.
