Happy birthday, Donald Glover! In celebration of the Atlanta creator and rapper/actor/writer’s 34th, we found 5 fun facts about him that you might not know:
1. How he got his rap name, Childish Gambino:
Before Childish Gambino, Glover’s stage name was Bambino X. The new rap name was created by an online Wu-Tang Name Generator.
2. He was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness:
“Being a Jehovah’s Witness amplified my own alienness, Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t celebrate Christmas. You don’t pledge allegiance to the flag. People don’t understand that,” Glover told Wired in an interview.
3. He produces under the name mcDJ:
Aside from being a talented writer, comic, rapper and actor, Glover also produces and remixes tracks. Can one wear too many hats?
4. His brother is also a writer for Atlanta:
His name is Stephen Glover. I guess talent (and fine-ness) runs in the family!

5. He went to NYU, where he was “discovered” by Tina Fey:
Tina Fey came across Glover while he was doing stand-up at his alma matter, NYU. At 23, he was hired as a writer for Fey’s NBC comedy 30 Rock.

Last week, Glover became the first black person to win an Emmy for directing a comedy for his show Atlanta.
