The Heavy Return With The Prophetic “Hurricane Coming”

As anyone who’s seen them live can attest, The Heavy have always been a force of nature. Frontman Kelvin Swaby’s voice comes out like lightning; jagged, electric and powerful. On their new single, “Hurricane Coming,” the band summons their elemental force for a song that documents Swaby getting caught up in Hurricane Irma during his first year in the US while predicting more to come. The hint of foreboding that’s often a part of The Heavy’s best material is on full display with his prophetic refrain “there’s a hurricane coming / it ain’t afraid of nothing.” Swaby explains, “the power of that, and it only touched us at, like, a category one. It’s just the way that relationships are as well. It was like ‘just be careful of taking something beautiful for granted’. Don’t take people for fools. There’s always something waiting, lurking, even…”
