AFROPUNK Minneapolis Is Coming! Are You Ready?

June 5, 2022

AFROPUNK is headed to our very first midwest Minneapolis stop, and it’s going to be lit. Expect all the celebratory vibes and top-tier performances from elite artists-sprinkled with the backdrop of punk aesthetics.

AFROPUNK x the Twin Cities

AFROPUNK Minneapolis starts this June 18th with panels and community action events spanning the city. It continues on June 19th with performances from a range of artists set against the backdrop of Minneapolis’ renowned Sheridan Memorial Park.

All the Vibes

At the core of our event is a line-up of unrivaled artists. We’ve got all the bases covered, from purveyors of soul and urban beats to alternative and progressive takes.

Get ready to bask in the musical stylings of:

  • Ari Lennox: The DC-born singer is known for her unique vocal stylings and innovative, soulful sound. Lennox’s latest single ‘Pressure’ is at 74 million streams and counting.
  • Dreamer Isioma: This Chicago Nigerian-American artist cultivates their own genre unlike any other. Combining hip-hop, indie, and afrobeat elements into a whole new sound, Dreamer Isioma seeks to create a musical safe space for those who don’t subscribe to binaries.
  • Miloe: Minneapolis-native and Miloe’s brainchild, Bobby, was raised in a musical family and learned to play the piano at six years old. Taking musical cues from his home in the Democratic Republic of Congo and combining that sound with pop and R&B elements is the name of the game for Miloe.
  • Sango: Part of the Soulection collective, Seattle-based producer Sango is commonly known for his remixes of artists like the Weeknd, Aaliyah, and Drake, as well as his ‘Da Rocinha (A Love Letter to Rio De Janeiro)’ EP series. Making waves across the world for his high-energy live shows, Sango is more than just an artist. He’s a whole experience.
  • EVV: Evelyn Speers, better known as EVV, is a genre-defying artist who calls Minneapolis home. Inspired by jazz, blues, and rock, EVV’s music is a one-of-a-kind experience that touches on personal encounters and life as a femme-identifying human being in today’s society.
  • BLOOD $MOKE BODY: Formerly known as Nazeem & Spencer Joles, this Southside Minneapolis trio creates alternative hip-hop to invoke emotion and drive the listener to action. BLOOD $MOKE BODY has performed at major events like Minneapolis’ Soundset and has become a Twin Cities area sensation.

Other performing artists include Noname, Mereba, Pink Siifu, MMYYKK & The Blackbeat Theory, Ricki Monique, Papa Mbye, EssJay TheAfrocentricRatchet, and kills online, with DJs Yasmeenah and Kwey spinning.

This Juneteenth weekend in Minneapolis will be unlike any other. Get your tickets for AFROPUNK Minneapolis today.
