Out of this WORLD: Planet AFROPUNK Miami

Lace-up your space boots and hop in—we’re going galactic at the Planet AFROPUNK Miami! With this first-ever live experience, Planet AFROPUNK Miami is kicking off May at the historic Overtown neighborhood, The Urban. AFROPUNK aims to connect the African diaspora through a combo of food, dance, tech, art, and discussions so that you’ll witness the beauty of diverse communities engaging and connecting through commonalities. With three jam-packed days of live performances, pulsating cultural experiences, and hella vibes, you won’t want to miss the incredible action.

Ideaville

We’ll kick off AFROPUNK Miami with an engaging panel of experts who will walk you through essential and thought-provoking discussions of our current times. You’ll explore themes like justice, equality, acceptance, how to cultivate peace, and more to hear others and even share your voice. 

Live performances

After your thoughts flow at Ideaville, head into the next two days with your stamina and Meg knees because the live music will be in heavy rotation! From BAMBII, YENDRY, Pretyboy D-O, and ChocQuibTown, the talent will be epic. Jamaican American DJ, MC, and record producer WalshyFire from reggae-inspired group Major Lazer will also be blessing us with his spins and talent! This event is an unbelievable opportunity to experience the arts through music, creation, discussion, and how technology is tying it all together.

We’re showcasing the city’s most iconic and cultural restaurants with live demos, interviews from our chefs, and more, so your taste buds don’t miss a beat while you’re enjoying the weekend!

Take a stroll through our curation of visual arts and the artists bringing them to life throughout the weekend. You’ll notice that the vivid expressions you find are graphical representations of the African diaspora’s liberation, culture, and voice.

You may be familiar with the virtual market and vendors that have been bringing you cultural goods, and now we’re bringing the market to you in real-time so you can see, touch, and feel these beautiful works of art in person. From books to beauty, clothing to spiritual goods here’s your chance to purchase authentic products while shopping locally.   

We’ll be live with plenty of other activations throughout the weekend for your enjoyment—just prepare yourself to be amazed!
