AFROPUNK’s Video Of The Week: Black History Continued With Lucky Daye,  The Soul Rebels And Willard Hill

February 25, 2022

For some, especially in the U.S., the end of the shortest month of the year means it’s time to tuck Black folks’ accomplishments away, shift the corporate pandering to Women’s History, and relegate Black History to the dusty corners of the internet once more.  This February we’re not going out like that.  This week we are featuring a music clip from ‘Black History Continued’, a Webby Anthem Award winning series from The New York Times, that highlights all the dope shit Black folks do all year round.  Here’s a clip from the “Homecoming” episode featuring AFROPUNK fest favorite Lucky Daye, New Orleans brass band The Soul Rebels, and artist and producer, Willard Hill performing a soulful rendition of the Black American National Anthem ‘Lift Every Voice And Sing’ at Dillard University, an HBCU in New Orleans, LA. Give it a click and then head over to The New York Times’ page to see everything from Black Womxn Surfers, Black Foraging, musical performances, panels, and to learn about Black folks doing dope shit all year round.
