“Now that the conversation has opened up to have more awareness of everyone’s mental health. I think it’s incredibly important for Black people to dive into that, especially considering the generational trauma that has been experienced in America is so deep.”

The past year has exposed the massive fault lines in mental health care. Social isolation, self-destructive habits, and a pervasive feeling of hopelessness combined with the stigma surrounding mental health have compounded crisis on crisis. To combat the ongoing mental health crisis, Sounds of Saving has created a new project aimed at amplifying the voices of artists who have dealt with their own struggles, as well as promoting resources for those who need them. For her entry to SoS’s “Song that Found Me At The Right Time,” singer/songwriter Madison McFerrin joins forces with The Loveland Foundation to present a cover of Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place.” Building from a delicate simple tone, McFerrin layers sound on sound as her voice swirls and builds. It’s a stunning, mesmerizing take that demands the listener take space and heal.
