frank ocean matches the month’s mood with new song “dear april”
Back in October 2019, when Frank Ocean’s debuted “Dear April” at his PrEP+ night club event, he couldn’t have known how appropriate the song’s longing, melancholy would be for the month in 2020 it shares a name with.
Officially released for purchase on 7- inch vinyl and backed with a Justice remix, the acoustic version of the song has now hit streaming services. Featuring Ocean’s plaintive, lovelorn vocals over a bare acoustic guitar the song hits different at a time when many of us are holed up in our homes craving human connection. Co-produced by Ocean and bass player and composer Daniel Aged (formerly of the brother duo Inc.) the song is perfect for quarantine feels.
Along with “Dear April” Ocean has also released another acoustic A-side with “Cayendo,” another collab with Aged sung partially in Spanish. If these songs are any indication of the direction is going for his next full-length expect to be in your feelings for the remainder of 2020.
