VIP never stood a chance against COVID-19. With the bad comes the good and this pandemic, although creating immense spikes in global worry to say the least, has also brought the people together in ways previously unimaginable. Last Saturday night was a beautiful one, because amongst the panic was a live party DJ’ed by legendary DJ D-Nice.

The live concert brought in the masses including high-profile names like Michelle Obama, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Chaka Khan, Diddy, Timbaland, Alicia Keys, Ava DuVernay, Kerry Washington, Bernie Sanders, Naomi Campbell, Oprah Winfrey, Janet Jackson, Janelle Monae, oh and 100,000 others. Damn!

News of the party spread like wildfire and soon the good vibes were worldwide. All kinds of people came together to experience a moment of celebration and pure joy amidst the difficult moment we find ourselves in. Thanks to this DJ/photographer/producer extraordinaire Derrick Jones, professionally known as D-Nice, everyone got to take a collective breath, pour a drink, and dance the night away — together, alone. The therapeutic dance session included hits from all around the diaspora interrupted by shoutouts and reminders to wash your hands!!!

This important moment and night unity to overcome a difficult moment and show up for each other will be remembered as part of COVID-19 history!
