Ava DuVernay’s latest project has us geeked. She will be developing best-selling fantasy book series Wings of Fire into TV magic! The #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling series was created by Venezuelan-American author Tui T. Sutherland. 

The Wings of Fire novels chronicle the quests of young dragons to fulfill prophecies and are set in the fictional continents of Pyrrhia and Pantala. DuVernay has teamed up with Warner Bros. Animation (responsible for DC Universes Harley Quinn as well as Hulu’s revival of Animaniacs and HBO Max’s Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and Looney Tunes Cartoons). Together, DuVernay and Warner Bros will transform this fantasy series into a “high-end serialized animated family television series.”

Wings of Fire consists of 15 novels, 3 graphic novels, and 4 short stories.
