it’s official: new ‘the proud family’ episodes coming to disney+

Turns out Tommy Davidson really had the tea this summer when he teased the return of Disney’s original animated series, The Proud Family, starring Davidson and Kyla Pratt. According to Family Matter’s actress, Jo Marie Payton — who played Suga Mama on The Proud Family — confirmed the reboot on Good Morning America this past Tuesday telling co-host Keke Palmer, “Yeah, Suga’s large and in charge. That’s all I’ve got to say — except for Suga Mama will be doing some new episodes come February.” GANG F*CKIN’ GANG!

Created by Bruce W. Smith, The Proud Family made its debut on the Disney Channel in 2001, with new episodes airing until 2005, and ended with The Proud Family Movie. One of very few animated series centered around a Black family, The Proud Family was in regular rotation for many of us back then.
