ganser’s “bad form” takes on 21st century anxiety
“No, yeah I’m fine / I’ve just been looking at the ceiling…”
I know the feeling, Ganser.
Alicia Gaines, bassist and vocalist for the Chicago post-punk quartet, describes their latest single, “Bad Form,” as being about that “common yet isolating paralysis of not doing enough.” The band’s trademark tension-and-release builds, while the video’s surreal visuals add to the mounting sense of alienation and disorientation. Ganser’s great skill is continuously making compelling art-music out of 21st century anxieties. “Bad Form” comes from the group’s forthcoming second full-length, and if this single is any indication, it’s shaping up to be their best work to date.
