chiwetel ejiofor to play immortal mercenary in netflix’s ‘the old guard’

Bruh, what a time to be a Black comic book nerd! To be honest, we would’ve just been happy with Black Panther, but thank Allah, the thirst for Black fantasy characters in otherworldly situations. And it looks like  Chiwetel Ejiofor is the latest actor to join the nerd club with a role in Netflix’s adaptation of Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández’s The Old Guard. The story centers around a group of inexplicably immortal folks who use said immortality to fight the wars throughout history. Led by a woman called Andy (played by Charlize Theron) these mystical mercenaries are a novelty of the time as their numbers have dwindled along with their collective power. But with the emergence of a Greg Ruckimmortal, a new immortal fighting for the modern day Marines and sabotage by a nefarious organization, can these soldiers rise up and fight for justice?

It’s still unclear what role Ejiofor will play, but I’d kinda like to see him take on a villainous role! Harry Melling, Veronica Ngo, Kiki Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Luca Marinelli, and Aladdin Zaddy Marwan Kenzari are each set to appear as well.
