Summer is made for love. With the 50th Anniversary of Pride on one end and the Brooklyn AFROPUNK Festival at the other, we’re declaring 2019’s warm weather months as the Summer of Blacker Love. With that in mind, we’re kicking off AFROPUNK Mixtape #54 with the indomitable instigator of Pride, the great Marsha P. Johnson, and closing it out with a new track from punk icons Ho99o9. This mixtape is a celebration of love in all its forms, with songs by AP favs like The Heavy, HXLT, Flying Lotus and Lizzo, alongside newcomers like Deva Mahal, Jack Swing and Trouble In The Streets and a throwback homage to DC’s go-go scene, now instigating an anti-gentrification rebellion in America’s capital. Blast this loud, then make like Marsha and start a riot for love.
