‘the boondocks’ to return after 5-year hiatus

Yes, the rumors are true. Aaron McGruder’s much-loved animated series The Boondocks is coming back, 13 years after the show’s last episode. Appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast, actor John Witherspoon confirmed that they were actually in pre-production for season five.

“I’m on the cartoon — what is it? The Boondocks? I didn’t change my voice for The Boondocks. And they coming back: Boondocks is coming back… It’s one of the best cartoons I’ve ever been on.” SAY WORD?!

Virtually nothing is known about what this mysterious fifth season could bring, but it’s pretty exciting regardless. No word yet if the show’s creator, McGruder, is involved but presumably he is. Let’s pray that Academy Award winner Regina King, who voices Huey and Riley, is down for the ride. Fingers crossed, fam.
