For anyone who may be feeling alone or is in search of community, here are some collectives you should check out! Even if you can’t join any of these they may just inspire you to start your own!

SMART GIRL CLUB

Founded by Destiny Frasqueri (aka Princess Nokia) and Milah Libin, Smart Girls Club is a collective birthed from the perspective of Urban Feminism. The collective has hosted workshops, radio shows and staged poetry performances. Nokia told i-D:

“It’s for women like myself, who identify on such a multitude of planes and need something that is relatable. Urban feminism is in the community I grew up in, we’re not invisible. It’s saying that whether you like it or not, we’re gonna be represented, we’re gonna demand respect, we’re gonna counteract negligence with our presence, we’re gonna create tools of awareness and protection for sisterhood, for education, and for better ways to navigate our lives. It’s our goal.”

⁣✨ENROLL // SHARE // TEACH ✨⠀ ⠀ With You, For You, we will:⠀ ⠀ Deepen our connections to⠀ Family and Earth⠀ Change and History⠀ Tech. and Bodies⠀ Magic and Love⠀ Knowledge and the Erotic⠀ ⠀ As we⠀ ⠀ Snatch our tongues back ⠀ Back from the academy⠀ Back from thieves in ivory towers⠀ Back from detention⠀ ⠀ Back from the hands that took ⠀ our love notes ⠀ and bound them into ⠀ texts we could never afford⠀ ⠀ Back from their “validation”⠀ Back from their “credentials”⠀ Back from institutions ⠀ that hoarded knowledge from us ⠀ and commodified our precious histories⠀ ⠀ We all have knowledge to share⠀ We all have different points of access, ⠀ traumas around memory, learning, sharing and skill building⠀ We all have resources to contribute and needs to fulfill⠀ We are all engaged in our own work personally, politically, ⠀ spiritually, and emotionally.⠀ ⠀ How do we validate our knowledge and and fortify our relationships to each other?⠀ ⠀ How do we gain the knowledge to thrive into the future?⠀ ⠀ We will recenter ourselves and decenter the academy.⠀ ⠀ We will seek generous reciprocities instead of exclusion and hostilities.⠀ ⠀ JOIN US.⠀ ⠀ We are decentralizing the brick and mortar and the financial ties that qualify institutions of learning. ⠀ We are building an embodied and distributed knowledge. ⠀ One that validates by relation, by personal and intimate history. ⠀ One shaped by the hands it feeds. ⠀ One shaped by the land we walk on and takes care of it.⠀ ⠀ Bufubyusforus.com/theWYFYschool ⠀ poster collab by @wonton.titties // @drwngdrwng // @bufu_byusforus

Oh hello 😉 Your fave (insert whatever the fuck you think we are) is going to China with @china_residencies! & we need $3,000. 🔥🔥🔥 We stay visible in the worst way. Let’s get real, as queer femme and non-binary folks of color, profit has been made by just about everyone but us with the consumption our bodies. It’s no secret, they stay thriving on us! What does it mean to snatch back the mic? Help us tell our stories on our terms. ✨✨✨ In two years of existence, we have collected over 500 hours of footage comprising 200 interviews in 5 different languages in Seattle, L.A., Austin, New York City, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, and Addis Ababa, Kingston (Jamaica). 🌹🌹🌹 We’ve hosted over 200 events with spaces like, @afropunk, @newwomenspace, @brooklynmuseum , @knockdowncenter , @newmuseum , @maydayspace , @metmuseum, @laundromat_proj @secretprojectrobot, and other spaces across the greater NYC area in partnership with groups like @noflowersforytpowers, @femmepremacy, @yellowjacketscollective, @hautesaucebk , @smartgirlclub, @arthoecollective, @queerabstract, @blackgirlmagik , @harrietsapothecary , @fakeaccentnyc , @bwaforblm, @atsweetys , @discwomannyc , @bklynboihood , @sistercirclecollective , @ragganyc , @melodictripmedia , and many others! ✈️️✈️️✈️️ After you give us your money and we return from China, we will begin a residency at @eyebeamnyc where we’ll complete post-production on our 5 part documentary webseries by Spring 2018. 💖💖💖 Long story short WIN A DATE & give us money. 💖💖💖 —-🙏🏿 In the understanding that the world continues to buckle under the weight of white supremacy, capitalism, patriarchy, and environmental disasters- we are holding off on the larger scale crowdfunding and encourage folks to give where they can to many in need. 🙏🏿 shouts out to @yeelencohen for making this viddddddddd! #winadatewithbufu
