Brian Banks is the true story of a 16-year-old football prodigy whose life is upended when he is convicted of crimes he never committed. Already committed to attending and playing for USC and drawing attention from the NFL, the star football player seems like the last person who would risk it all for a life of crime and punishment. But despite a lack of evidence, Banks is dragged through the broken, unjust criminal justice system where he is sentenced to a decade of prison and probation. Years later with the help of white savior Justin Brooks, played by Greg Kinnear, and the California Innocence Project, Banks has the chance to reclaim his life and even fulfill his life-long dreams of playing professional ball.

The film stars Aldis Hodge, Sherri Shepherd and Melanie Liburd in Doug Atchison’s script and is directed by Tom Shadyac. Brian Banks is scheduled to hit theatres August 9th via Bleecker Street.
