jussie smollett makes first appearance since his attack

Jussie Smollett has been in a whirlwind for the past week or so. It was reported that the star experienced an alleged attack where two men in MAGA hats harassed and attacked the performer and poured a substance on him that was believed to be bleach. He also had a noose on his neck upon arrival to the Chicago police department.

This past weekend, he made his first appearance at an already scheduled live performance in California. The performer said on stage in front of a cheering audience, “Above all I fought the fuck back.” The recall of what happened quickly turned into a rally crying for the need for us to be “Blacker and gayer.”

The police are still investigating the allegations and have yet to find the footage of the altercations, but of course it’s always possible that something more sinister is behind the tapes not materializing.

Jussie Smollett is best known for his role in Lee Daniel’s Empire as the character Jamal Lyon and breaking through as a musician and performer. Some doubt circled around the nature of his attack and Smollett addressed this too, “I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level,” the performer said. “Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served.” We’re following the developments in this case.
