Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was born 90 years ago today. His vision, words, actions and service to the Black community helped drive the Civil Rights Movement.

Dr. King’s legend helped inspire countless radicals, revolutionaries, and activists in the pursuit of equality — his dream. As Black people, fighting for freedom is a way of life — most of us were born into institutional racism and colonization. We don’t know real freedom because we are still marginalized, disenfranchised, and treated as second class citizens in this world.

Our resistance comes from leaders like Dr. King, who sacrificed their lives for our collective Black liberation. In politically dark times such as these, it’s important to remember our ancestors who came before us and celebrate their existence. Let’s us continue to fight the good fight. Let freedom ring!
