eve ewing to pen new spider-man comic

January 24, 2019

Poet and author Eve Ewing has had an incredible last few years with the release of her book of poetry, Electric Arches and her work on Marvel’s Ironheart comic. And it looks like her latest project will be a follow-up to the latter. Once again teaming up with Marvel Comic, the University of Chicago professor is launching a brand new book under the Ms. Marvel franchise. A special 5-year anniversary issue, her work on the issue marks the beginning of a blossoming collaboration with the comic book house.

In addition to celebrating the legacy of Ms. Marvel, Ewing has signed on-board to launch the first arc of the “Marvel Team-Up” stories, a throwback to the 70s and 80s, that will bring iconic superheroes into the same story. Her first arc, which includes three issues of an ongoing series, pairs Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man after a science experiment goes belly up at Empire State University. Ewing will be joined by artist Joey Vasquez.

“It’s been wonderful to watch Eve grow as a comics writer, with each one of her Ironheart scripts being better than the next,” said C.B. Cebulski, editor in chief of Marvel. “With her ability to not only capture the feel of the Marvel universe, but to make her characters move so naturally through it with their actions and dialogue, we knew it was only a matter of time before she was writing more for us. With Marvel Team-Up, Eve will be able to play with different characters and lend her voice to our heroes’ relationships, both old and new.”
