afropunk atl: the rainbow resistance

Does anyone even remember the time before Black people reclaimed color? How did they ever get us to fear color when it is so clearly created for and by us — it’s perfect for our melanin. AFROPUNK Atlanta was an explosion of children of the sun, decked out in every shade under it. Pastel wigs, neon afros and rainbow-colored dreadlocks floated around activations and artwork boasting just as many hues as those found on festival-goers.

The rainbow was so fierce and so present, you could practically taste it.
