afrofuturist nnedi okorafor pens new comic book
George R.R. Martin collaborator Nnedi Okorafor is bringing her vast Binti universe to the world of comic books with her newest project, LaGuardia. The story takes place in a South Bronx apartment building called New Hope and follows the story of a pregnant Nigerian-American doctor named Future Nwafor Chukwuebuka. Future has recently returned to NYC under mysterious circumstances after smuggling an illegal alien plant named “Letme Live” through the LaGuardia International and Interstellar Airport.
Here, Future and Let are engrossed in the growing mostly African and shape-shifting alien immigrants community where they face interrogation, discrimination, and travel bans and they try to make a new life in this land. But as the birth of her child looms, Future must fight for a new world of change. But can she do it with the secret she’s hiding? Stay tuned.
My latest original project LaGuardia is due out on December. It’s about African and alien immigrants in a Brooklyn apartment building called New Hope. And yes, it’s set in the universe of my #Binti novella trilogy and novel Lagoon. 👽🛸🌍🇳🇬🇿🇦🇸🇸. https://t.co/oRBklu2rxB
