Business
that awkward moment when trust fund kids are called ‘self-made’
The idea that Kylie Jenner, who was born into wealth, privilege, and instant fame is ‘self-made’, is a slap in the face to pretty much every single entrepreneur who has to build their business from the ground up with zero resources. Self-made? Really? Not only was Jenner born into a position that made her prime for economic success, her famous siblings and life on tv are what made her relevant in the first place.
Needless to say, the average black girl from the south side with a passion for cosmetics not only doesn’t have millions at her finger tips, industry contacts at your beck and call, or a popular tv show to buttress her business.
erm. being born into extreme wealth & instant fame is the exact opposite of “self made” https://t.co/c9rZyx03Al

How can you be “self-made” when the resources you used to make yourself were just handed to you?
Sure, she takes all these selfies and capitalized on her social media following. But she’s not much different from Trump, who got started in business thanks to money given to him by his father.
the lesson here is that if your parents have the connections to shop a reality show that launches when you’re 10 so you’re famous from childhood & have very famous siblings, maybe you too can pull yourself up from your bootstraps & start a company valued at billions #goals

it was wrong of me “come for” a young woman who’s sacrificed SO MUCH to chase her dreams of repackage colorpop lip gloss AND put full lips on the map. as a black woman stating facts is really aggressive and threatening to the status quo. i should know better.
