jay ellis (lawrence) not returning to ‘insecure’ for season 3

While we’re still totally excited for season 3 of Issa Rae’s hit tv show, Insecure, some new changes are afoot as far as storytelling. Jay Ellis, the actor who plays Lawrence, is not returning for the show’s upcoming season. Noticeably absent from the teaser trailer for season 3, fans have been bugging Rae to tell them it isn’t so. “We want to stay as true to life as possible,” Rae told Vulture at Insecure Fest in L.A. “They had a great conversation at the end of season two and it was just about like, hey, she’s moving on Daniel, sometimes we have those conversations,” Rae says. “You never see the exes again. And it’s okay! You gotta explore life without Lawrence.”
