Dakar Fashion Week celebrated its 16 year anniversary last month and it was litty! Organized by Senegalese fashion designer Adama Paris, the mind behind international Black Fashion Week events held in Prague, the U.S., Bahia, Brazil and other cities, DFW featured shows and collections by 35 designers, including Le Jenke, Omar Victor, and Trevor Sturmman, all hailing from 10 countries. Wowing locals and continuing to make bold impressions on the international scene these designers fused heritage with New African fierceness. One of the most powerful shows during the event was the unapologetic anti-rape messaging seen on the models in MAGENTS’ (Didier De Villiers and Mothei Khomiso) show (pictured below).
