Last week, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ actor Darris Love and his girlfriend, Ayesha Dumas, were leaving a parking garage after a trip to the Apple Store in Glendale when Love realized they forgot to get their parking ticket validated. Pulling over, Love says he jumped out of the car and sprinted across the street towards the store when a group of police officers tackled him to the ground. “Have you ever had someone’s knee in your neck on the concrete?” Love asked during a news conference Tuesday. “That is the most excruciating pain ever.”

Apparently, at the time of the arrest, which Love estimated was around 12:50 p.m., police had been engaged in a high-speed chase with three suspects in a black BMW. The televised chase when from the San Fernando Valley to Glendale where the suspects pulled into a nearby parking lot before ditching the vehicle.

Seeing a black man running, authorities arrested Love and placed him in a squad car where Senior Lead Officer Daryl Scoggins was, L.A. Times reports, polite as he went through the misunderstanding with Love, who showed the officer is parking validation ticket as evidence. Police verified his story using the mall’s surveillance video.
