this black woman is barbados’ new prime minister!
Many congratulations to Barbados’ newest Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, the first black woman to hold this office. Mottley, the head of Barbados’ Labour Party won the election in a landslide victory last Thursday, May 24, despite vicious homophobic attacks against her. It’s been reported that the now 52-year-old predicted her big win back in high school where she told a teacher she would become the country’s first female president. After a successful career as a lawyer, Mottley has done just that.
